The Czech Switzerland National Park was declared in 2000 and is the youngest of the four national parks in the Czech Republic. The whole park is located in the Ústí nad Labem region and it can be said that it is connected to the Saxon Switzerland National Park on the German side of the border and also to the Protected Landscape Area of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The park covers an area of 79 km2 and most of the territory is covered by forests. The unique rock towns and formations as well as the fauna and flora are protected in the national park.
