Go on a cycling trip to the border of the Ústí nad Labem and Central Bohemia regions to the popular tourist area Kokořínsko. The trip is slightly over 40 km long and can be done even by moderately fit cyclists.
The trip starts in Hněvice, where you can park or take the train. Right in Hněvice you can connect to the the 8249 cycle route. It will lead you first over the bridge to Štětí and then a slightly more demanding climb to the village of Stračí.
From Stračí, follow the yellow tourist route, which will lead you first to the interesting Marian Chapel and then to the cave Mordloch, which is said to have been formerly inhabited by robbers. The yellow trail then takes you past many rock formations and reliefs. For example, the Snake, Sphinga and Harfenice reliefs are interesting. The yellow trail will then lead you to the village of Želizy, where you should be sure to visit the local tourist attraction, the Devil's Heads.
In the village of Želízy, you will then join the 8249 cycle route again, which after about 12 km will lead you to Mělník. The beautiful town at the confluence of the Elbe and Vltava rivers is very popular with tourists. You can visit the local castle, the town underground or the the Church of St. Peter and Paul with its lookout tower. You can also enjoy a very nice view from Vráz's lookout point near the church or from the terrace directly below the church.
At Mělník, join the Labská cesta and follow the Elbe River back to Hněvice. On the way you can refresh yourself In the Restaurant Na Knížecí or in the U Stodoly.
