This cycling trip through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains gets off to a challenging start—a hike up Děčínský Sněžník. The reward for this demanding start is a beautiful view and refreshments on the highest table mountain in the Czech Republic—Děčínský Sněžník (723 m above sea level). From Sněžník, the route leads to Ostrov, where you’ll be surrounded by rock formations and ponds. In Ostrov, you can grab a bite to eat either at the Hostinec pod Císařem or at the Hotel Ostrov. Following the Biela River, you’ll ride through the forest down to Ottomühle, Germany, which serves as the starting point for hiking trips to numerous lookouts and rock formations. If you’d like to put your bike aside for a moment, we recommend a short hike up to the Hercules Columns (Herkulessäule). The bike tour then continues to Königstein, which is famous for its majestic fortress and is definitely worth a visit. From the fortress, it’s just a short distance to the Elbe River. The Elbe Cycle Route (Elberadweg) will then take you back to Děčín through the beautiful sandstone Elbe Canyon.
